KALEIDIOM
Kaleidiom is a full-length Waacking dance piece that explores the themes of perception and perspective, both formally and conceptually. Swiss Waacking pioneers Tamara Mancini and Branca Scheidegger approach these themes through an object-based exploration centered around a large wooden frame, using it as a starting point to develop new forms of Waacking for the stage.
In the creation of the piece, they place Waacking within a contemporary performance context while reflecting on their own position and role within, and in relation to, the Waacking scene. With Kaleidiom, the choreographic duo engages with the current discourse surrounding the decline of a culture of debate and disagreement, making an appeal for openness and for the willingness to embrace different perspectives.
